Rural England Prosperity Fund
The Rural England Prosperity Fund (REPF) is a rural top-up
to the Government UK Shared Prosperity Fund of £ 2.6 billion launched in April
2022. Maldon District will receive a £430,328 grant over two years for the 2023
to 2024 period and the 2024 to 2025 period.
The District’s funding will be focused on capital grants for
• Small-scale investment in micro
and small enterprises
• Rural circular economy projects
• Impactful volunteering and
social action projects to develop social and human capital in local places
Maldon District Council is working in partnership with the Rural Community Council of Essex (RCCE)
to deliver this funding as the core of a new initiative to ‘Strengthen and
Improve Productivity in Rural Economies and Communities’ (SIP-REC), funded by
the Nuclear Restoration Services.

instance, for all grant requests over £20,000.

Essex Rivers LEADER programme
RCCE delivered the Essex Rivers LEADER programme in conjunction with a Local Action Group between 2015 and 2021. It was one of 80 local LEADER programmes delivered across approximately 85% of rural England.
The Essex Rivers programme provided over £1.6 million in funding to support business diversification and growth across a substantial part of rural Essex. This funding enabled local rural businesses to create 74 FTE new jobs.
LEADER is a European Union funded programme so will not be available in the United Kingdom in future.
