Thorpe le Soken Parish Councillors view new affordable homes
New homes for local people nearing completion in the Tendring parish of Thorpe le Soken
Parish Councillors in Thorpe Le Soken were offered a sneak preview on Monday 24 August 2009 of the new affordable homes nearing completion in Byng Crescent. English Rural Housing Association has developing this scheme of 12 houses and flats that will be occupied by people with a local connection following hand over from the contractor, Borrowdale Construction, on 7 September. With triple glazed windows, solar panels and gas heating the homes will be economic to run.
The homes were developed following initial work between Thorpe Parish Council and the Rural Housing Enabler from RCCE who carried out a Housing Needs Survey in the parish in May 2005 to identify if there was a need for affordable housing.
