Maldon District Local Strategic Partnership is keen to promote and support Parish Plans within the District because it believes that they encourage community empowerment and foster community spirit.

On 14th September at Wickham Bishops Village Hall Maldon District Local Strategic Partnership hosted a Parish Plans Market Place supported by Maldon District Council, Essex County Council Making the Links and RCCE.

The afternoon begun with a networking lunch followed by an introduction from Terry Collins vice-chairman of Maldon District Local Strategic Partnership and a presentation from key note speaker Carole Ruse, from West Berkshire Council. Carole Ruse outlined how Parish Plans are developed and used in West Berkshire. Her presentation gave inspiration of what communities can achieve through Parish Planning and how the plans can be used strategically to help achieve Local Area Agreement targets and the Duty to Involve.

The event was free to delegates from the Maldon area, and those from other areas could attend for just £5. Representatives from NHS Mid Essex, the Police, Highways department, Community Transport, Adult Community Learning, Maldon District Community Safety Partnership, Essex Local Access Forum, Community Initiatives Fund, Maldon District Housing and Planning Departments, Maldon and District Council for Voluntary Service and existing Parish Plan groups who are working in the Maldon District were on hand to offer guidance and advice to parishes along side RCCE staff, Maldon District Council LSP and the Making the Links team.
