We have some great events planned this year to help raise money for the Essex Rural Fund, so join us for some fun!
The success of
our activities
last year
which
included an
evening of
dinner and
cabaret with a Flanders and Swan tribute
act, an energetic evening of barn dancing
with Itchy Feet, and a rather long walk (81
miles!) from Epping to Harwich, AKA the
Essex Way, has spurred our enthusiastic
team into conjuring up new ways of
parting people with their money in the
name of fun and fundraising. It’s all in aid
of raising money for the Essex Rural Fund,
an endowment fund established by the
RCCE to commemorate its 80th
anniversary and to provide a dedicated
source of funding for rural community
groups and projects for years to come.
We have three special events planned at
Layer Marney Tower.
The Magician's Box
The first is a play presented by Mad Dogs
and Englishmen Theatre Company called
‘The Magicians Box’, which has been
commissioned by Wilkin & Sons of Tiptree
(of jam fame) to commemorate their 125th
anniversary. We have been very lucky to
secure one evening’s performance of this fully
booked tour on Sunday evening 18th July.
The evening will begin with a delicious
barbeque.
Flix in the Stix
The second event will be an enchanting
evening of ‘Flix in the Stix’ with an
outdoor big screen showing of the
blockbuster ‘Mama Mia’ on Thursday 19th
August. This ever popular film will be
screened on the lawn so pack up a picnic
and blanket and tune up your vocal chords
to join in this delightful summer evening
of fun and entertainment for the whole
family. A bar will be available and ice
creams will be on sale.
Barn Dance
And…back by popular demand…Itchy Feet
will be calling again at our second Barn
Dance Friday 19th November. Tickets sold
out last year so get yours early! Further
details will be posted on RCCE website so
keep checking.
If you have never visited the beautiful
and historic Layer Marney Tower, these
events are the perfect opportunity to do so!

£12.50 for the play only.

Gates open 6.15pm;
film commences at 8.15pm
Ticket options: £10 per person or a
family ticket (two adults, two children) £35.
