Calor Essex Village of the Year and Best Kept Village Competition

Rural Community Council of Essex (RCCE), is the competition organiser for the Calor Essex Village of the Year and Best Kept Village Competition.

RCCE encourage every village in the county to enter the competition sponsored by Calor – the UK’s leading supplier of LPG (liquefied petroleum gas).

The competition both nationally and locally provides a showcase for all that is good in our rural communities.

The competitions overall purpose is simple, and relevant to every village community in Essex. It is:

  • To encourage village communities to work together to provide support and encouragement for all aspects of village life
  • The awards will be won by evidence of community involvement and initiative, not by aesthetic appearance or architectural heritage

Winners of the Essex competition are announced each year at the RCCE Annual General Meeting in July

The winner of Calor Essex Village of the Year will have the added honour of being nominated to go forward and represent their county in the prestigious Calor Village of the Year® for England competition. This will give that village the opportunity of gaining recognition at national level as well as a share of a prize fund.
