RCCE (Rural Community Council of Essex) is an independent charity helping people and communities throughout rural Essex to build a sustainable future. We are currently looking to recruit a part-time Community Engagement Officer on a fixed-term contract.

Community Engagement Officer

Fixed term - 1 year contract

Salary – £20,000 per annum, pro rata

Hours – 18 per week

As part of a small team, the successful candidate will provide support to rural communities across Essex, primarily assisting them with Community Led Planning projects, but also helping to promote and deliver other aspects of RCCE’s Localism and Community Engagement work. The role will be varied in nature and involve some evening and weekend working, so requires someone who is adaptable, flexible and who can work independently or as part of a team. You will need to be a diplomatic communicator - both verbal and written – and able to plan your own workload. You will also possess good organisational and ICT skills.

A background working in community or voluntary organisations would be helpful, but the role may also be of interest to someone who wants to become active in community development work for the first time. Having an understanding of or interest in, rural issues would also be an advantage, as would planning and development.

As this role is countywide, often involving working evenings in rural areas, you will need to be able to drive and have access to a suitable vehicle insured for work purposes.

RCCE is committed to equality of opportunity, and welcomes applications from all sections of the community. For an application form and job description/person specification please phone 01376 574330 or e-mail sarah.sapsford@essexrcc.org.uk. The closing date for all applications is noon on Thursday 2nd Oct 2014. Interviews for the post will take place in week beginning Monday 6th October 2014
