At a packed AGM on Wednesday 10th July at Chelmsford City Racecourse, a host of dignitaries including the Lord Lieutenant of Essex, High Sheriff, Leader of Essex County Council, various Mayors and Council Chairmen and Chairs of other bodies, were delighted to see Peldon crowned Essex Village of the Year 2019.

The competition, sponsored by Essex & Suffolk Water and Inkpen Downie Architecture & Design, had attracted a large number of applications and competition was fierce.

Representatives from Peldon were presented with the Essex & Suffolk Water Shield and a cheque for £500. The judges were impressed with the strong sense of community, with many activities and initiatives.

Alresford and Great Bardfield came joint second and each received a cheque for £200, with Great Tey in fourth place, receiving £150.
