Uttlesford District Council's long-standing commitment to affordable
rural housing was demonstrated on Tuesday 1 July when a second
evaluation report was launched. The evaluation looked at 10 schemes of
housing for local people with parish councils and neighbouring
households also being surveyed for their views. It considered what the
benefits and impact of such schemes are and if they met the objectives of housing people with a local connection.
The launch marked Rural Housing Week and highlighted the joint work between UDC, RCCE's Rural Housing Enabler, housing associations and parish councils in bring much needed homes to small parishes.
County, district and parish councillors heard how the process works, the headline findings and first hand expreiences from parish councils who have had developments. In the afternoon some attendees boarded a coach and took a tour of schemes in Arkesden, Clavering, Langley, Manuden and Newport. The venue for the event was the recently completed Manuden Village Community Centre.
