This FREE one day session for clergy in the Diocese of Chelmsford looks at the new Community Rights introduced under the Localism Act and how the clergy might engage in any subsequent actions that arise in their communities.


Suitable for those working in both urban and rural contexts, the day will include:

·         The Big Picture: What is Localism?

·         The Localism Act: A look at the new Community Rights

·         What is already happening in Communities? Including an introduction to:

o   Community Led Planning

o   Affordable Housing

o   Village Halls and Community Buildings management

o   The use of community buildings to deliver community services

·         Community Engagement: A look at when it might be beneficial or appropriate to get involved and how to do this

The session is designed to be interactive, with presentations and participatory activities. Knowledge of the Localism Act, planning, Community Led Planning, Village Halls and Community Buildings management and Affordable Housing schemes is not required.
