Edible Essex is delighted to announce that Peter Seabrook MBE and Charlie Stocker will be judging our competition at the end of February at RHS Hyde Hall.

So far, over 150 primary schools have registered for the Packed Lunch Plot Competition, and some very impressive and imaginative entries have already been received.

The competition invites Essex primary school children to plan what they could grow in a small allotment plot and then invent a recipe for a healthy packed lunch using this produce. First prize includes £1000 worth of gardening equipment and a chance to plant the winning plot design at RHS Hyde Hall!

Our judges will meet at the end of February to decide upon the overall winner and the runners-up:

Peter Seabrook MBE
Peter Seabrook is a British gardening writer and television broadcaster. He is well known for his work on the long running BBC gardening programme, Gardeners' World. He is currently the gardening correspondent of The Sun.

Charlie Stocker
Essex Chef, Charlie Stocker, is hugely passionate about foraging and sourcing local produce. This is evident in his unique menus featured at his pop-up restaurants throughout Essex. Charlie, a finalist in the chef of the year category in the 2012 Essex Food & Drink Awards, also reached the quarter finals of MasterChef: The Professionals last year.

Joining Peter and Charlie on the judging panel will be Darryl Webber, Go! Editor at Essex Chronicle Media Group, a passionate allotmenteer himself, and Les Day, Managing Director of Kings Seeds.

Schools have until 8th February to submit their entries. For more information go to http://edibleessex.org.uk/competition/
