Rural Community Council of Essex (RCCE) has a vacancy within its Affordable Rural Housing and Community Engagement Team, to support its work in helping rural communities identify local housing need, explore affordable rural and community-led housing options and community led planning solutions for communities in Essex.
This is a new role and an exciting time to join RCCE, as recently we have worked with partners to create a Community Led Housing Hub (Eastern Region Community Led Homes). The successful candidate will work with our Rural Housing Enabler supporting local communities in Essex identify any local housing need and assist and guide them through the options to bring this forward, either via (rural) affordable homes or community led housing.
Our Community Engagement Team supports rural communities to produce Community Led Plans, in particular Neighbourhood Plans.
You will help promote the services within the team including Eastern Region Community Led Homes. Attending meetings/workshops/training and carrying out housing needs surveys, you will build relationships, creating survey’s, input and analyse data, write reports and present findings. You will engage and support parishes, local groups and partners and keep up to date with local and national policy, making groups and parishes aware of any changes. You will also be involved in supporting the team with training and network events.
To be successful in the role you need to be able to prioritise and problem solve, be confident with data; able to input and analyse information and have experience of, or ability to present this to parish councils and groups, with a capacity to understand policies. Having a can do attitude and good communication skills will help you in the role.
If you have an understanding of the challenges that rural communities face, how data can be used as evidence and also enthuse people, then we would love to hear from you.
This post requires you to have a full driving licence and access to a car.
