Be part of the RCCE Community Engagement Team
Community Engagement Officer - Part Time position – 14-18 hrs per week negotiable. Circa £26,000 (pro rata)
At RCCE, we believe that communities have the power to
influence change and our Community Engagement Team are at the heart of that by
working with local communities to plan for their future, in particular, by
supporting parish councils and community groups in the production of Community
Led Plans. The team also works to help communities identify local housing needs
and aspirations, and provides a Village Halls Service, supporting communities
to manage their local assets.
You will help promote the services within the team, provide
advice and guidance for volunteers working on Community Led Plans, in
particular Neighbourhood Plans and provide support to parishes engaging with
their wider community to identify priorities. You will also keep up to date
with local and national policy, making groups and parishes aware of any changes
and will be involved with training and network events.
To be successful in the role you need to versatile, comfortable engaging with groups and individuals, able to prioritise and problem solve and have experience of, or ability to present to parish councils and groups, with the capacity to understand policies. Having a can-do attitude and good communication skills will help you in the role. If you understand the challenges that rural communities face, have a passion for enabling volunteers and can enthuse people, then we would love to hear from you.
There will be some evening and weekend working, but time off
in lieu is given for this work.
This post requires you to have a full driving licence and
access to a car.

Community Agent Roles (district based)
One role per district:
Brentwood and Basildon Borough (floating agent)
These roles are permanent part-time, home-based, with
flexibility around hour/days worked.
Looking for a flexible job supporting people in your local community? Community Agents Essex is seeking to add to the team.
Community Agents support adults, especially older people and
their informal carers, to enable them to remain living in independently. The
role involves visiting people in their own homes – on an appointment system –
and explaining the help and support that is available to meet their individual
needs. It is not a personal caring role.
The job is flexible to fit around personal/family
For each role we are looking for someone to work 15-20 hours
a week (exact hours days to be agreed with successful candidates).
The starting salary is £11.00 per hour plus travelling expenses. Full training and support will be provided but you must have a good knowledge of the local community and the district. An enhanced DBS will be carried out.

Find Your Active - Community Connector
Physical activity is essential to our health and wellbeing and building on the success of the pilot project initiated by Active Essex and Essex County Council, RCCE are pleased to be recruiting for Find Your Active Community Connectors to ensure physical activity is a top priority for everyone.
Find Your Active Community Connectors work within local communities and alongside United in Kind Coaches and other Essex Wellbeing teams, to support people to find their active. Whether that is within an existing group, club, activity or helping create something new.
The post is fixed term until 31st May 2024 (with possibility of project extension)
Location: This is a district wide role and currently we are looking for a Connector in the Chelmsford district.
Hours approx: 10-12 hrs per week, per district. We offer Flexible hours (majority of time is Mon-Fri, with some weekend and evening work as required). There is the opportunity to cover more than one district. Working days are negotiable.
Salary: £22,000 FTE (actual salary is based on number of districts. FTE pro rata)
Annual Leave: 33 days (including bank holidays) pro rata
