Introduction to Community Led Planning

This session introduces Community Led Planning projects, focusing on Parish Plans and Village Design Statements, and explaining how a Neighbourhood Plan is different. Find out what is involved in creating a plan for the future of your community and the benefits of Community Led Planning.

Neighbourhood Planning

This session explains this new type of Community Led Plan introduced by the Localism Act.  It looks at the processes and stages involved in preparing a Neighbourhood Plan and the support available.

Linking Community Led Plans to policy and strategy

This session looks at how the spatial and community planning systems in the UK relate to Community Led Plans. Learn about the Local Development Framework and the Local Authority Strategies and how your community can link into these plans.

Localism Act and Community Rights

This session gives an overview of the four of the new Community Rights introduced by the Localism Act: Right to Plan (Neighbourhood Planning and Neighbourhood Development Orders), Right to Build, Right to Bid/Buy (Assets of Community Value) and Right to Challenge.  It explores how these new rights might be built into a Community Led Plan process..

Consulting your community

This session explores the different types of engagement with your community. Learn about appropriate methods to use in different situations to best inform, consult and involve your community in your project.

Action planning

This session looks at how to create a SMART action plan. Learn how to identify potential actions and create an action plan that can be implemented effectively.

Creating your community led plan

This session provides support to communities creating community led plans.
Get some practical advice on how to write your document, look at what makes a good community led plan and share best practice.

Taking actions forward

This session provides some examples of actions your group may like to carry out. Listen to speakers from a variety of organisations on projects that may benefit your community.
