The Essex Biodiversity Project brings specialist conservation and habitat creation knowledge to the competition and judges will be looking for evidence of the inclusion of these when visiting churchyards across the county.  However, just as important is that the churchyard provides a peaceful and contemplative environment for visitors and those seeking consolation.

EBP sponsorship  has increased the cash prizes available and a new deadline is set for entries to take advantage of this. We remain grateful to Lodge & Sons for their continued support of the competition.

The competition looks to recognise and reward Churchyards in Essex which are well-managed, providing a peaceful haven for both humans and animals. We encourage entries from Churchyards of all denominations.

Entries may be submitted by any organisation which is responsible for managing a Churchyard. If you are proud of your Churchyard and those who work in it then please consider entering this FREE competition. The NEW cash prizes of £400, £250 and £150 will be awarded to the winners.

Entries must be received by Friday 11th May 2012. Judging will take place in two stages between April and June. Winners will be announced at the RCCE AGM in July, where certificates and prizes will be awarded.
